The purpose of the Boating Club of Anchor Yankers, Inc., is to serve the interest of boat owners, to defend such owners against discriminatory legislation and burdensome taxation, to prevent the pollution of neighboring recreational waters, to stimulate a greater interest in boating among all the citizens in the area served by the Club, to develop a fraternal spirit among local outdoor enthusiasts, to provide a medium for the exchange of boating information, to own or lease property for Club uses, to develop more adequate boat storage and dock facilities, and to do all other things which will tend to serve present owners of boating equipment and to further interest in boating generally, to promote safety on the waters.
Anchor Yankers Island is a privately owned island on the Mississippi River, shared among its members since October 17th 1956. AY Island features a large pavilion, outdoor cooking facilities, large picnic tables, a fresh water pump, storage sheds, 200+ foot dock area and large fire pit area. The island is often confused for a state park, but is actually private property. You must be an invited guest of one of the members to use our outstanding facilities.
New membership in AY is open to all individuals who are interested in boating activities, are boat owners, and are sponsored by a member. The Club shall be limited to a maximum of fifty memberships. A nine month priority waiting list is established for prospective applicants giving full access to the club and facilities.
If you are interested in more information on the island or club membership, please contact the membership chairman via email at: membership@a-y.us
The AY membership meets every month throughout the year to socialize and celebrate boating. We also have several island events, during summertime, offering fun for everyone.
